Elective (

Eng.

Journ.) – Ms. Casela

Does anybody else remember this? Hehe, wala lang, trip down memory lane. I was going through some old stuff to see if I could throw away some of them na. I am so horribly sentimental, I’ve even got stuff from first year. I came across this old 3×5 index card on which I’d written our schedule at the start of third year. Anybody from Cesium reading this? Hehe. I remember how confused I was initially when Ms. De la Paz turned out to be Mrs. Clancy na pala. Now I also know why my Math grades were worse than ever during third year…first subject pala siya half of the time. Everybody knows I was always absent for the first subject, haha.

I also remember how Elective was always used as cramming time…time to finish up those chem problem sets. I distinctly remember rushing down from Eng. Journ. to be in time to copy my friends’ answers, haha.

Does anybody remember what books we tackled in English 3? Did we do Ramayana then? I can’t remember e. Filipino was scriptwriting, remember? I still have my old writing exercises. I have the one for silent scenes, and I also have the one for montage scenes. I also have the draft of my old script (and the summary of each scene that you write down in half crosswise sheets of paper, 1 scene per sheet). I saw my grade, it was high, but then may pahabol na “-20, late” haha. Siyempre I also have my final script, but I just can’t bear to read it anymore – it’s too darn corny. It was an icky love story, haha. The names were derived from real people in Pisay, haha.

Does anybody remember how the girls used to live for bio because of Sir Sugui? Haha. And I was like “What’s the big deal? He’s so payatot?”…until he talked to me. Ahahaha. His eyelashes were just so pretty, it’s unfair that any boy should have them. We also did frog dissection that year. And I remember how everybody who didn’t finish that morning (which is basically everybody) put the frogs in the ref and returned for overtime dissection in the afternoon. And how one group’s frog (I think it was Suzanne’s group) turned into monster frog. It was so surreal. One minute it was lying there, already cut up from the morning’s dissection, the next minute it was pulling it’s pinned upper extremities from the dissection board, and then hopping on the table with its entrails hanging out!

What was your favorite experiment? Mine was the Rebop baby. Does anybody remember this? It was the one to do with genetics, and you produce this “baby” based on the characteristics you picked out from the parents. Our baby was so cute, haha.

Who remembers Research? And Ma’am Juanita Cruz, aka Ma’am Penguin? She was always mad at me for being late/absent. Strict bugger, haha. And the thing was, at one time she was also our checker at the dorm (the checker is the one who goes to see the rooms at night to see if anybody’s missing/roomhopping). I’m just not sure if she was our checker during third year.

PE with Sir Filcon…is this the year that Kit’s shoe flew off when he tried to kick the ball during soccer? Or was that second year? Haha. I think third year was basketball. Were we using the gym by third year?

Does anybody remember how Miss Arena used to require us to write diaries? When I couldn’t think of anything to write, I’d just copy song lyrics and say “I love this song”. Haha.

30-Question Survey

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Galing ‘to kay Maan. This is what I was doing before my turtle interrupted me (see related blog).

1. If you
were a vegetable what kind would you be and why?
Uhm…I don’t really know.
Hahaha.

2. Would
you rather be invisible or be able to fly and what would you do with that
power?
Well, I would love to be able to fly kaya lang sagap mo lahat ng
pollution, hahaha. Pero okay din yun, fly to wherever you want. Baka nga lang
diyahe mag-dress/skirt…masisilipan ka. Haha.
makapag-isa at makapag-isip. Wow, saya. Tsaka madalas ko kasi mapanaginipan
yung lumilipad e.

Pero sa totoo lang, ang gusto
ko talagang power ay yung pag-teleport. Tama ba yung term? O basta, yung you
can be wherever you want to be in the snap of a finger. Mala-Nightwalker sa
X-men (ah, tama kaya yung pangalan? Hehe). Mas masaya yun. Pag ayaw mo na sa
lugar na kinalalagyan mo, lipat ka na lang, in an instant wala ka na dun. Tapos
instant vacation din. Makakapag-Bora or whatever ka, without having to pay the
plane fare.
time. Wow, imagine the possibilities! Pwede kang maging villain or hero,

3. If you
were a member of the opposite sex would you date yourself?
Hmm, good question. Baka masyado akong

On the other hand, di ako high maintenance kaya
okay!
Siguro me and myself would go out several times, tapos ewan na, haha.

Hay naku, I obviously don’t know much about what
boys like.

4. If you
could make any book, story, comic, album, real-life experience or an original
idea of yours in a major blockbuster movie what would it be?

Yung Artemis Fowl series! If only Macauly Caulkin were still young enough…

5. If you
could punch or slap someone who would it be and why?
I really can’t think of anyone right now…I’m
not a fan of punching or slapping…

Maybe I’d bitchslap ___  until he shapes up.

6. If you
could meet anyone you wanted (living or dead) who would it be?

A few hours later…Si
Jesus siguro. Kaya lang parang ang laking responsibility nun. Anong sasabihin
ko sa mga tao afterwards?

7. If you
died today what do you think will happen to you?
I’d be so happy, wala ng problema sa mundo. I’d go to heaven.

8. If you
have children what would you name and where did you get the names from?
I’ve been thinking of giving really Pinoy
names. Yung akin kasi sobrang banyaga e.

Ahahahaha.

9. What’s
your earliest childhood memory?
My mom was getting dressed and I was standing beside her and I asked her
“E anong pangalan mo?” Haha.

10. What
were your plans for after graduation from high school and college?
Ever since high school med na talaga nasa isip ko. Not that I’m so in
love with it, yun nga lang kasi naiisip ko, wala na kong ibang maisip na
trabaho for me. Ang difference lang, gusto ko noon mag-OB.

11. Have
you ever had a brush with death?
I don’t think so…at least not my own.

12. What’s
the most sensational moment you’ve ever experienced?
Define sensational??? I can’t think of anything. Maybe getting on that
Free-fall ride in

California

.
Grabe! Next thing I wanna try is bungee jumping.

13. What do
you think of your parents?
My parents are cool enough. They’re not the usual kind of parents. They’re
definitely old fashioned. They like to give away money, that’s why ang sagot
lagi samin ay “walang pera”. I swear they contribute to a lot of things, mostly
to do with the church. But that has taught us about priorities, sharing, and
not being selfish. It also taught us that God comes first, even sa material possessions.
My dad’s very strict about time and not staying out late. My mom can be very
pakialamera when she wants to be. They’re both wacky.

14. What do
you think your parents think of you?
I think they think I’m depressed about my ex. And they think I’m wasting
time. But they’re just so relieved that I passed the board exam kaya minsan
hinahayaan na lang. But I think they think I spend way too much time on the
internet or sleeping. And that I’m not eating.

15. What’s
the hardest you’ve ever laughed?
All the times that I hung out with the people from Saringhimig (med
choir) was fun. Lalo na yung portable

Enchanted

Kingdom

16. What’s
the oldest object you own?
I think my baby book. With hair clippings from my first haircut, and my
hospital tag from the nursery.

17. When is
your birthday and what time were you born?
August 2, 1983, 5:45 AM yata. Basta madaling araw, 5 something.

18. What
were you doing one hour ago?
Ranting about my turtle. Haha. See the related blog. Basta I was on the
internet na. I was doing this, then the turtle interrupted and so I blogged
about that. And now I’m back to this. Before all that, I had lunch.

19. Have
you ever worn clothing specifically designed for the opposite sex?
Yes, I’ve worn men’s pants. I’ve also worn a man’s polo. Y’know,
cross-dressing stuff for school. And
the times that I stayed at my Lolo’s house and borrowed Brean’s shirt. And also
the time that we were in Malate with Bryt and I borrowed his jacket because I
felt too “exposed”. And a couple of other times that I borrowed friends’ stuff.

20. How did
your first kiss come about?
Well, I was drunk and he told me he loved me,
and I felt so sorry for him, I just gave him a kiss on the cheek to make it
better. Iba talaga ang logic ng lasing, haha. Yung totoong kiss, w
e had a
bet involving the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and who gets to be Donatello. I
was always losing our bets and was determined to win this one. Finally, after
several hours he said magpapatalo siya if I kiss him. So I did. Haha. Cheap.

21. If you
could have sex with anyone who would it be?
Seriously, just my future husband. So that would be, nobody at the
moment. That’s not to say that I don’t have anyone in mind, haha.

22. Would
you ever participate in a threesome or group sex?
I don’t think so.

23. Who’d
you rather bone, Meg Ryan or Jack Nicholson (from Billy Madison)?
Huh? Can I just pass? But I do think Jack Nicholson is adorable, hehe.
Wait, I don’t think he was in Billy Madison. Baka the person who made this
meant Anger Management?

24. Favorite
Song?
These days, The Pieces Don’t Fit Anymore by James Morrison, and Baby Can
I Hold You by Tracy Chapman, and Paano as performed by Shamrock

25. Favorite
book, novel, comic graphic novel, etc?
I can’t really say favorite…but I love the Artemis Fowl series, hehe.

26. Favorite
album?
Mariah’s #1s, Norah Jones’s 1st album (which was
unfortunately stolen from me), and a mix CD

27. What’s
the WORST song you’ve ever heard?
Ahh, wala kong masyadong maisip…Sinaktan Mo Ang Puso Ko? Honey My Love
So Sweet (pero tawagan naming ni Bianx yun, haha)? And all those weird upbeat, “dance”
songs they play on buses and jeeps.

28. Top 3
favorite movies?
Can’t name 3 off the top of my head!
Di kasi ako nag-iisip ng “favorite”. Sige, sappy mode tayo ngayon…”You’ve Got
Mail”, “Bridget Jones’ Diary”, “Love Actually”.

29. Favorite
leader of your country (past or present)?
Hay naku, wala akong maisip! Si Jose Rizal na lang. Looking back, tama
talaga siya! Edukasyon muna!

30. Favorite
food?
Fried Chicken ni Manang Edith, Ginataang
Gulay, Beefsteak ni Manang Edith, Blueberry Cheesecake, Big Brother’s Burger
with Cilantro Cream and Onion Rings on the side, Quarter Pounder Meal ng McDo. (yung Brother’s Burger, grabe, eto ang food
na consistently nakakapagpasabi sa akin ng “I’m so happy”, first bite pa lang,
haha)

Turtle Power

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Dammit! That turtle gave me a
fright! There I was, typing on my computer, when I heard this faint tapping
sound on the floor of the living room. I was a bit scared that it might be a
huge rat but it was too slow to be a rat. Then I saw a long snout, and then saw
the darn turtle! It was the anti-social turtle that Aina christened Frida the
last time they were here. And let me tell you it’s big (It’s approximately as
big as my two hands put together side by side. My hands are huge, too). It’s
not the usual kind of turtle, I don’t even know what kind it is. Basta it’s
soft, with an oddly-shaped head, and a backend that flops down a bit. He looks
a bit slimy.

Man, I thought he was
anti-social! What’s he doing out of his pond? I swear he must be the smartest
of the four because he’s the newest and yet he’s the only one who has ever
successfully climbed out of their “pond”.

He sent me screaming through the
house. I don’t know why I was so scared of him. When he heard me screaming he
promptly withdrew into his shell. I eventually got my dad to take a break from
his siesta (haha) and grab the turtle. I swear I couldn’t do it myself, he just
looks so darn icky. I can’t imagine touching him. Initially he didn’t put up a
fight. And then halfway to the pond he started struggling so my dad dropped
him. And I screamed and cringed…poor turtle. He’s soft e! Then my dad picked
him up again and threw, yes threw, him back into the pond. Ouchies!

And now he’s safely back in his
pond…until he decides to climb out again. I’m afraid he’ll do it tonight. And
we have to figure out how he got out in the first place.

Buti na lang hindi yung other
turtleBig_turtle

(the big, mean one, who is my original pet) ang nakawala. He’s got a
serrated shell and sharp claws and a mean bite (he bit my finger when he was
tiny, and Ihad a hard time shaking him off. It hurt, too).

In other turtle news, yesterday
we were afraid that one of the turtles had died because a few hours after
Manang Edith changed their water, it was foul again. And it usually takes days before
they stink up their water. And the odd thing is, it looked a bit foamy. But we
checked and everybody’s present, alive and kicking! Well, they’re still doing
it. We just changed the water and it’s dirty na ulit. We have to investigate
further…

Yay La Salle!

Monday, October 8th, 2007

So yesterday I ended up watching the DLSU-UE match right after Pacman’s
fight. I’m sure glad I did. I was almost convinced na natatalo La Salle
pag nanonood ako e, haha.

Anyway, I’m just glad we won. What a
comeback. Nobody expected that talaga. Imagine, UE had a 14-game
winning streak. Matatalo lang ng ganun, with hardly a fight sa finals!

Oh
well, was just darn glad. And I was telling my dad how it would be in
Araneta after the game…how the La Sallians would stay for at least 30
mins after the game, just cheering and singing the alma mater
hymn…and then everybody will start chanting "walang pasok" until
somebody from the Admin announces that it is so.

Hay. Then I also remembered na malamang right after the game derecho na sa Taft because there would be this huge party!

Hay. I wish I’d watched live.

Wishlist

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

1) Well, I just learned that there are new Artemis Fowl books…so that
tops my list. Haha, my taste in books has apparently remained juvenile.
    a) Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony
    b) Artemis Fowl: The Graphic Novel  (gosh, I didn’t even imagine they’d come up with a graphic novel)

2) The new Ipod

3) A macbook, haha

4) A job that pays a lot

5) A new ophthalmoscope

6) The new Babyface CD (gosh, I don’t even know the name)

Well,
right now I just really want number one, I just had to add all the
Besides,
that’s probably the only realistic thing there. Aside from the CD. I
just wish it’s out in local bookstores na so I can use my mom’s card.
Haha.
